Cork yoga mat sustainability
When choosing an exercise mat, you will often come across cheap plastic variants. However, their impact on the environment is enormous. We tried to find a material that does not leave an ecological footprint. We opted for cork because it is high quality, 100% natural and without added chemicals and adhesives. The cork mat is gentle on both us and the planet.
How is cork obtained?
Did you know that not a single tree is cut down to get a cork? Cork is the bark of a tree that is peeled from cork oak every 9 years. It is a natural process and the tree is not damaged in any way. Some trees have been with us on the planet for up to 200 years. In addition, oaks support forest biodiversity by providing a home to some endangered species of plants and animals.
No waste
The cork mat is 100% biodegradable. Once the cork product reaches the end of its life, it decomposes back, creating no unnecessary waste. In addition, the cork mat is of high quality and will last you longer than ordinary mats, which after a short time will start to twist, crumble and tear.
How did the Korkie brand name come about?
Have you ever wondered why our name is Korkie? The name is based on the word cork. We really fell in love with this material. We love it not only because of the kindness to nature, but also because of its properties. It is a natural, antibacterial and soft material, which is also non-slip.
